O "site", agora sediado em um servidor comercial, atualmente, só conta com a versão em Inglês. Não tive tempo ainda para traduzi-lo para o português. After a few months of not much spare time to work on restoration I finally got both sets done.
What a difference from initial conditions. All recaped, including vibrator, pots work, rust and contacts cleaning, refinished cabinets, termites treatment, and a few resistors. Sets working nicely. Great sound quality. Already in site! ![]() Philips BR585AV ![]() Philips BR207U I've been working on two nice Philips models BR207U and BR585 AV, both made in Brazil.
Model BR207U is in a very bad condition: both, the gray bakelit cabinet and the chassis. Chassis is completely rust. It will be necessary to take off most of the parts for cleaning and rust treatment. Cabinet paint will be stripped and refinished with a color matching the original gray. See the situation ... ![]() ![]() Philips Model BR585 AV with a wooden cabinet was full of termites...
![]() ... so, lets get to work prety fast. First, a few days in a freezer. Next, removing and replacing damaged wood. Termites treatment of wood (Commercial Jimo Cupim), and finaly, stripping and a new finish with laquer, probabily. ![]() Chassis had lots of rust. Almost done after 2 weeks of detailed work on very hard to reach parts... ![]() It needs a new dial cloth and I feel the problem will be the tuning eye tube EM34... any help? ![]() I just finished a page with useful links. Lots of schemas, manuals, tube info, etc. for old radios and other old electronic devices.
Take a look at Useful Links. I've been working on building up a data base with the Rider's and Beitman's Schematics Indexes, for the last 2 weeks. I intend to have a searcheble reference page for these data by the end of next week (July 10th).
...well, now, after hours and hours of thinking and work, I'm quite sure the bad part is the PC-1, an integrated circuit between detector e audio output... Can you help me on that?
See pict below. ![]() After replacing 36AM3 tube, set only works when I place my hand near/on the loop antenna windings. Since the station I can receiver gets somewhat louder, the problem may be the tuning alignment of the loop antenna. First I'll check tubes again and then check and adjust the trimmer on the tuning capacitor. Other possibilities: open loop antenna winding, bad IF transformer, or some component of the detector/pre-amplifier stage is bad.
